This genuine 8th Vein Ocean Jasper slab from Madagascar is an especially unusual piece because of the striking animal-like image created entirely by its natural patterning. Along the lower portion of one face, the cream, white, golden-olive, and dark green formations come together in a way that resembles an animal in profile. Depending on how you look at it, the figure can take on a slightly different appearance, making it a wonderful example of natural imagery within stone.

The slab has a deep forest to moss-green base scattered with hundreds of tiny cream, white, pale pink, and golden orbicular formations. Larger sweeping areas of clustered orbs create bold outlines across the surface, while numerous natural cavities and pockets add dimension and expose some of the stone's internal structure. Close-up views reveal tiny concentric "eyes" and intricate orbicular details throughout.

At 86 grams, this is a smaller slab, but the unusual natural imagery and dense patterning give it tremendous character. Because 8th Vein Ocean Jasper is from a finite source, specimens with distinctive formations such as this one make particularly interesting additions to an Ocean Jasper collection.
